Itinerary

Step 1 - Make your way to Petřín Hill
Head to Petřín Park, situated above the Malá Strana (Lesser Town) neighbourhood. The most scenic approach is via the Petřín funicular from the Újezd tram stop — note that the funicular may be out of service during maintenance periods, in which case several walking paths lead up the hill from Malá Strana, Strahov, or Pohořelec.
Step 2 - Arrive at the tower
Follow the path through the gardens to reach the Petřín Lookout Tower. Take a moment to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the park before heading inside — you’re already well above the city at this point.
Step 3 - Enter via the priority counter
Show your e-ticket at the priority counter on arrival. No need to queue at the standard box office — you go straight through.
Step 4 - Climb to the top
Choose your ascent: take the 299 steps up to the observation cabin, or use the elevator to reach the 51-metre platform. The stairs are steady with small landings to rest on along the way.
Step 5 - Take in the 360° panorama
From the top platform, enjoy an unobstructed view over the entire city: Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Old Town rooftops, the Vltava River, and on a clear day, mountains stretching far into the distance.
Step 6 - Explore the surroundings
Back on the ground, take time to wander through Petřín Park. The rose garden, the Mirror Maze, the Štefánik Observatory, and several café terraces are all within a short walk from the tower.

Reviews

The view from Petřín is unlike anything else in Prague, wide open, peaceful, and completely different from the busy streets below. The elevator made it easy for our whole group. Absolutely worth it.

We climbed the 299 steps and the view at the top was stunning. You can see the whole city spread out below, Prague Castle, the river, everything. One of the best things we did on our trip.

Visit Preparation

The most convenient option is to take the Petřín funicular from the Újezd tram stop (trams 9, 12, 20, 22), please check current service status before your visit as the funicular undergoes periodic maintenance. Alternatively, walk up from Pohořelec (tram 22, gentle slope), from Strahov (easy, no hills through the campus and rose garden), or from Malá Strana via Tržiště and Vlašská (steep incline). The tower address is Petřínské sady 633, Praha 1, Malá Strana.

Your e-ticket on your smartphone (or a screenshot in case of low battery). Comfortable shoes, whether you take the stairs or the elevator, you’ll be walking through the park. A light jacket if it’s windy, as the top observation platform is fully open-air. A camera: the panoramic views are exceptional on a clear day.

The tower has 299 steps to the top observation cabin at 51 metres. An elevator is available and goes all the way up to the 51m platform (additional fee applies). The tower is partially accessible by wheelchair, elevator access reaches the 20m platform only. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time.

Tickets are non-refundable once purchased. We recommend double-checking your visit date before confirming your order. If you have any issue with your booking, feel free to contact us directly and we’ll do our best to help.

Plan around 1 to 1.5 hours for a comfortable visit, time to reach the tower, climb to the top, enjoy the panoramic view, and wander through the park. If you plan to also visit the Mirror Maze or the Štefánik Observatory nearby, allow an extra 30 to 45 minutes.

The tower is open 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Apr–Aug), 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Sep), and 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Oct–Mar).
